The office provides training and development opportunities to academic staff at all levels, with the aim of promoting individual efficiency and effectiveness. Through enhancement of competency of academic staff, it will enable and assist staff to achieve institutional objectives by successful supervising and producing quality graduates and increase research output. The training programme also supports postgraduate students from honours up to doctoral level. The training programme includes a number of trainings aimed at equipping postgraduate students to successfully completing their degrees.

This programme focuses on the development of postgraduate students (current and potential). A series of full-day and half-day seminars/workshops will be facilitated by qualified specialist on specific topics aimed at improving proposal writing, data collection and analysis, writing skills and presentation skills, as well as conversion of thesis and dissertation research into publishable articles, amongst others. These workshops will be held at institutional level. The activities will be tailored according to faculty needs and drawn primarily from the following programmes that we have identified as addressing current needs:
The programme has been instrumental in improving quality of proposals submitted by PG students, increased number of publications by students and supervisors. The programme also assist students with preparing their research design in a coherent manner.
The programme will focus on providing support and to early career academics and established researchers. The programme aims to enhance researchers’ skills, knowledge base and experience in order to meet the demands of a research academic career. Among others the programme includes;
