# A Node For African Thought

Research and Innovation

To achieve and maintain the University’s vision and mission, the research and innovation division contributes mainly by promoting the research related goal of the institution which is: to drive growth in UNIZULU research and Innovation

Research Design and Data Analysis

Postgraduate students and Academic Researchers are welcome to seek for Statistical Services from this office regardless of the stage one is in the research work. Conducting quality research requires designing appropriate data collection tools that can produce the type of data required to address the research problem. It also requires application of appropriate statistical techniques in the formulation of the research proposal, when planning for either surveys or experimental studies, implementing the study plan, scientific data management, quantitative data analysis and reporting statistical findings to different clients.

Aim

To enhance the research methods and data analysis skills among the Postgraduate students and Academic researchers

Be on the lookout for the scheduled workshops in the year

  • Introduction to statistics and its application in research
  • Research proposal development and refinement process
  • Scientific data management strategies using GenStat
  • Survey design and sampling procedures
  • Scientific data management strategies using R software
  • Design of experiments (CRD, RCBD, Split-plot, Factorial)
  • Regression analysis (Simple linear, Multiple linear, etc.)
  • Multivariate analysis (PCA, FA, CA, CCA, etc.)
  • Statistical consideration in science writing
  • Categorical data analysis (Logit, Lognormal, Multinormal, Probit)
